>> reporter: good morning. in two hours when that search starts with they will not be justing a cadaver dog, police say it is a waste of the dog's time and it is a waste of the searcher's time because the area is simply too large. frederick salas has been missouri since august 26th. police believe he has been in the landfill for most of that time. >> they may have found a piece of letterhead that had a hercules address but that is about it. >> reporter: police marked off an acre inside the landfill and are using a backhoe to dig through tons of garbage. they are looking for a body and not a survivor. police say he was brought here by garbage collectors. police say they know who is sponge, the same man who murdered four other people, he

stole or borrowed a cadillac, used it to put his body in a dumpster at a business park, where he used to work. police say he was spotted at a home. the home was owned by his girlfriend. but salas and another man rented rooms from that owner. police say he was jealous of tran living with three other man and that is the motive for her strangulation death, the bludgeoning death and the disappearance. hes also dead, police shot him, killed him last monday night following a high speed chase. police say he strangled her during the chase. police believe he is connected with or responsible for the

deaths of two other women. last week their bodies were found on his property. he stayed there for the last 10 years. now we are going to be trying to call the other person in that home, the brother of one, the son of another, now dead. >> last night friends and family members gathered to remember the four victims of that deadly rampage. [ singing ] >> bought 100 people gathered at market hall. the grieving family members of his girlfriend re among those attending the memorial. a family friend read an emotional statement written by her son. >> we truly love our mom with all our hearts and we know she is looking over us at this very

moment. >> last night the vigil included one controversial decision, mourners lit one candle for the accused killer, organizers say their goal is to promote peace and understanding, not to judge the actions of others. >> 6:04. we have got breaking news now. concord police just found a missing wheelchair bound woman who is paralyzed from the beast down. amanda sloane called the police yesterday. she said she fell out of her wheelchair and needed immediate help. volunteers were searching the area for several hours and were not able to find her but claudine wong now tells us authorities have now found her. she will have all the details coming up at 6:30. also the chp wants to knowy a teenage girl jumped out of a moving car on a freeway.

investigators think she may have jumped out after an argument with her boyfriend. the girl was treated for minor injuries then released to her parents. her boyfriend is in jail this morning, he is facing charges of resisting arrest. >> some homeless people say a mcdonalds is trying to get rid of them by eliminating its dollar menu. jade hernandez joins us now from san francisco with more on the story. >> reporter: good morning. a buck used to go a long way at mcdonalds. it used to get you a god size mcdouble. not anymore. we are live at this mock donald's in the height ashbury neighborhood, the only mcdonalds which has done away with its dollar menu. the sign says no trespassing, no lightering and a 30 minute time limit while consuming food, all rules could curb problems this particular mcdonalds has had with the homeless outside its doors, the chronicle reports this morning the franchise owner of this

mcdonalds took away the menu about a month ago, homeless people are upset saying it was pulled to get them to go elsewhere. the difference in price is a couple of quarters. the article states that the franchise owner says she doesn't offer the dollar menu anymore based on a number of factors, none of which have anything to do with the homeless but for now customers, whether they are homeless or not, won't have a choice, if they want a dollar menu they will have to go somewhere else and skip the mcdonalds right here n san francisco. reporting live, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >> a livermore father is in jail this morning on suspicion of stabbing his 14-year-old son 11 times. it all happened yesterday when 48-year-old gary gomez took his wife, his son and his son's friends fishing. gomez became angry when one of the friends said he had to go home. investigators say when his son

interfered gomez stabbed the boy 11 times with a fishing knife. the wife was also stabbed once in the hand. none of the injuries are life- threatening. san francisco police are investigating the cause of a deadly crash that killed two young men and injured three others. the victims, 19-year-old robbie mccam and 20-year-old nick saturday meanto of daily city were graduateds of ocean anna high school. former classmates gathered at the site yesterday. they brought flowers and shared memories. >> it is heartbreaking for all of us. they were talking about in the car how all of us are together you know -- [ inaudible ] >> -- graduated. >> police say they were riding in a honda late saturday night. for some unknown reason it turned perpendicular to traffic, that is when another car carrying three people crashed into the side of the honda. the three victims in the toy

member of the international force was killed in the eastern part of that country. this was the 5th death among u.s. troops in afghanistan in just the first few days of september. >> this week the california supreme court will hear arguments on whether the governor has the authority to make state employees take unpaid days off. on wednesday three lawsuits by state employees will be considered. they claim the constitution does not give the governor the power to order furloughs. the governor says it does during a fiscal emergency. >> 6:15. some muni passengers could possibly find themselves stranded at their bus stops next week. somebody is circulating a flyer among muni praters telling them to call in sick between september 14th and the 17th. it is not clear exactly who is behind this push for a sickout but the union says it has nothing to do with it. the wording. flyers suggests it could have come from somebody angry about

tax breaks for creating jobs overseas, wall street firms turned huge profits by taking in some cases wreckless risks and cutting corners, all of this came at the expense of working americans. ultimately that house of cards collapsed. >> reporter: the president went to wisconsin today and will later talk up the economy on wednesday on ohio. both have tough midterm election races and polls show americans are not happy with the way mr. bam a is handling the economy. >> stimulus spending, permanent bailing outs government takeovers and federal mandates have all failed our nation. america's employers are afraid to invest over an economy wracked with undercertainty on what washington's next set of reclations rules tax hikes and regulations well look like. >> reporter: democratic supporters say the president was handed the problem. >> he inherited a banking

authorities are now analyzing thattest and working to get a positive id on the remains. >> time now 6:25. well today jerry brown the democratic candidate for governor will make a labor day appearance in alameda. he will shift his campaign into high gear. he will start airing tv ads for the first time today. and at 7:00 this morning his campaign says it will make a significant announcement on its website. jerry brown begins this morning with an appearance in los angeles. by lunchtime he will be in sacramento. then he will wrap up his day at an event at mlk's park in alameda, set for 4:00. meantime brown's opponent, republican meg white man, has been endorsed by the california chamber of commerce's board of directors. however, in response, the president of the university of california suspended his board membership and the chancellor of the state's community college system resigned from the board. those two men say they are

against the chamber getting involved in a political election. well, foster city's hill barn theater bell is back in the lobby, six years after it disappeared. theater members are thrilled to have this bell ck but they are still trying to figure out who stole the 300 pound antique bell and where it has been. a construction worker actually found it at a san leandro salvage yard last week and connected it to the theater through an inscription on the bell. business records for 2004 are pretty sketchy so this mystery may stay unsolved. a literal run in with the law. the chain of events in the north bay that left one officer injured and a man behind bars. >> just minutes ago we interviewed a missing woman who has now been found. we will tell you where she says she has been over the last few hours. >> also in just 90 minutes a grim search resumes at an east

boyfriend, she had called 911 for help yesterday maying she had fallen out of her wheelchair and has fing chest pains and authorities couldn't find her. >> are you okay, are you okay. >> yeah, am fine why? >> people were looking for you after you called 911, what happened, where d you go. >> i has having really bad chest pain. >> and you then didn't wait for them. >> i was here. >> so you were having chest pavens -- [overlapping speakers] [ inaudible ] >> -tell them you were. >> right here. >> you just said yiewrpd meet the -- the overpass. >> yeah, inurned net the freeway. >> well, late this morning -- [ inaudible ] >> -- search this area yesterday and she was not here but they did get information overnight she was making other calls and that is why they stopped their active search. there were about 30 people looking for her. because of the calls she made they aassumed she was okay but they still wanted to be sure,

now they are, amanda sloane actually still underneath the overpass right now, she is with a couple of other people, she is fine, she has refused both medical treatment and help and you will hear from her on coming up on mornings on 2. >> police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man in a backyard. the body of the victim was found at a home yesterday. now we don't know the victim's name yet, police are describing the suspect as a african man in his 20s last seen getting into a white or silver compact car. this is the 11th homicide of the year in vallejo. in the park a suspected drunk drive is in jail this morning accused of crashing into a police vehicle. now, this happened yesterday when the driver, 27-year-old joshua hicks skidded across the

intersection and crashed head on into a police suv. now hicks then tried to drive away but didn't succeed. he was arrested. by the way the officer who was in that suv was treated for injuries to his shoulder, his arm and his back. >> just about 90 minutes police officers and volunteers will return to a landfill in the east bay. they are looking for the body of the man believed to be the 5th victim of last week's deadly rampage. kraig debro joins us from pittsburgh with the latest details this morning. >> reporter: good morning. frederick salas has been missing since august 26th and police believe he has been here in the landfill for most of that time. >> they may have found a piece of a letterhead that had a hercules address but that is about it. >> reporter: police have marked off a square acre inside the landfill and using a backhoe to dig through tons of gab branch.

permanent shut down of that section. >> well, some people in san francisco say a change to a mcdonald's menu is an attempt to chase away the homeless. jade hernandez joins us now with more on the story. >> reporter: good morning, a buck in your pocket used to many dinner from a dollar menu at any local participating mcdonalds but at this specific mcdonalds here that is no longer the case. a dollar doesn't go as far as it used to. we are live near here. the chronicle reports this morning the owner of the mcdonalds in this neighborhood took away the menu about a month ago. that means no more mcdoubles f a buck, only very small hamburgers, homeless people are upset saying it was pulled to get them to go elsewhere. this particular mcdodges has had problems with the homeless so in the past management has locked bathroom doors and called police. the mayor and several merchants

are also pushing a november ballot measure which would ban sitting or lying on sidewalks. there are plans to build a whole foods across the street. this article states the franchise owner says she doesn't offer the dollar menu based on a number of factors. also a mcdonalds marketing director quoted in that same article says those factors can include customer demand and consumer price index. all of this comes down to nearly two quarter, the items on the menu has risen 49 cents but for those pinching pennies it is the difference between dinner and some say going hungry. live in san francisco, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >> 6:44. thousands are evacuating now in southern mexico to get away from heavy rains and flooding. several rivers flooded communities. more than 50,000 people are effected. just look at these pictures. officials say that number could
